I did.  I knew I  would  be going into rattle snake territory so I dressed for it - high leather boots. Cheers!

You win by default. Snakes aren't poisonous...they are venomous. Trick question.

Poisonous if you eat them...venomous if they bite you, Herpetology 101. A+

I mis-wrote that. I wasn't talking about eating the snake, but anything that is ingested. Nightshade is a good example. Snake meat is quite good.

Eat the venom glands, they poison you.

I've eaten snake. Consistency similar to fish but flavour more like fowl.

We found a dead 'greenish colored snake' lying in the roadway.  We opened it's mouth and it had two long fangs!

I agree. But this is what we found. I have not yet seen a photo of any snake in the world that was like the one we found. It had no rattle and was about 3 feet long. It was found about 1963.

I spent nine weeks in the Central American jungle.
I now live less than two hours from the Everglades.

    Encounter? I know their names.

What is their impression of you?

Reptiles lack a developed brain so I likely did not leave any impression on them at all.

Mash one with a shovel. That’ll leave an impression.

Don't kill snakes. They are necessary to keep the rodent population down.

I do not get close enough to kill them.  I run away. I had one run me out of my store. I made my husband get it out.  I still did not want to go back in for awhile.   He did not kill it.....just took it back to the field.   A customer thought it was my pet that got loose.  I used to keep a painted concrete snake in a tank with our sulcata tortoise.  I do not think she ever believed me that it was not my pet. LOL

That may not be entirely accurate. Brain development and instinct might be separate from each other, but an animal’s sense of survival and self-protection are perhaps all that are necessary to conceptualize threat analysis. By sensing your presence, the animal may ignore you, may adopt a fight-or-flight response, or if hungry, may try to turn you into the lunchtime catch-of-the-day, but either way, their brains, regardless of levels of development, do allow for making some type of impression.
